A scholarship fund has been established in the memory of a former high school football standout from Northern Westchester who went on to play in college. Nicolas De La Pava died on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was 23. Nicolas De La Pava, a football standout at the high school and collegiate levels who went on to start his own business in Northern Westchester, died on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. There is no shortage of Hudson Valley high schools that are among the best for athletes in New York, according to a new list released by Niche.com. The website analyzes data sets and reviews to produce rankings, report cards and profiles for schools, colleges and places to live. WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- It was a game-changing year in Westchester County in 2017. The year began with the announcement Entergy will be closing Indian Point Energy Center in 2020 and 2021.
