Update On Central Hudson Customers In Dutchess Still Without Power Electric service has been restored to approximately half the more than 74,000 customers of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation impacted by Tuesday’s powerful severe storm system.  As of 7 a.m. Thursday, approximately 37,000 customers remained without electric service in more than 425 individual damage locations, following a damaging storm that brought severe winds to the region, hitting hardest in the southern portion of Central Hudson’s service area. Brewster Voters Reject School Budget; All Other Putnam Spending Plans OK'd By just 119 votes, Brewster taxpayers defeated a proposed $99 million school budget on Tuesday. The vote was 808 against to 689 supporting next year's spending plan.  The school district and Board of Education will now have to come up with a revised budget for a second vote before resorting to a contingency spending plan.  Brewster voters, meanwhile, passed a ballot issue to borrow $754,000 and buy new school buses, by a vote of 835 to 660. Westchester Luxury Home Sales Hit 10-Year High Sales of luxury homes selling for $2 million and higher in Westchester County hit a 10-year high in 2017 with 357 high-end homes sold, a 4.7 percent increase from 2016, according to a new Houlihan Lawrence Luxury Market Report. Sale prices for luxury homes rose slightly from 2016, with the median sale price at $2.60 million, up from $2.56 million. Total sales for 2017 topped the $1 billion mark, a 6.2 percent increase from the previous year’s volume.  Two markets – Scarsdale and Rye – accounted for approximately 43 percent of the total luxury sales in Westchester in 2017. Luxury Home Sales See Uptick In Putnam Sales of luxury homes selling for $1 million and higher in Putnam and Dutchess counties rose 9.8 percent in 2017, according to a new study released Wednesday, Jan. 10 by Houlihan Lawrence.  The median sale price was $1.5 million, unchanged from 2016, reads the Luxury Market Report. Total luxury sales volume in the two counties was $82.9 million, an increase of 3.3 percent from 2016.
