The Highwood Avenue resident apparently suffered a medical episode and then sustained a large cut on her head when she fell Tuesday afternoon, May 16, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. A neighbor who's a registered nurse administered first aid along with responding police officers, the chief said. Discarded Fire Pit Embers Blamed For Glen Rock Garage Fire UPDATE: Discarded embers from an outdoor fire pit ignited a detached garage fire in Glen Rock earlier this month, authorities said. The embers “had been placed in a bucket directly next to the garage,” sparking the April 12 fire at a Beech Road residence, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said earlier this week. Responding police and firefighters found the homeowner trying to douse the blaze with a garden hose, the chief said. Firefighters from Fair Lawn and Hawthorne provided mutual aid.
