Authorities Investigate Robo Calls To Hackensack Fire Department
Authorities are investigating a series of ongoing robo calls that have recently been placed to the Hackensack Fire Department, fire officials said. For the last three days, the calls have been coming in on the basic 10-digit line but are not affecting the department's responses or operations, Hackensack Fire Captain Justin Derevyanik said. "The 911 system is fully operational and all residents are reminded 911 is the primary number to call for fire, police, and medical emergencies," he said. Backhoe Falls Into Sinkhole While Repairing Hackensack Mall's Broken Pipe
A backhoe working to repair a broken water main fell into a sinkhole in the parking lot at the Shops at Riverside in Hackensack Monday, authorities said. The mall had closed at approximately 1 p.m. to restore water to the facility. The backhoe was digging to repair the broken water main when it fell in the hole, Hackensack Fire Captain Justin Derevyanik said. No injuries were reported.

Hackensack Homeowner Puts Out Garage Fire
A Hackenasck homeowner put out a minor garage fire as firefighters pulled up to the scene just before 5 p.m. Saturday, fire officials said. The Byrne Street resident used a bucket of water to extinguish a small piece of burning molding, before the fire department finished off the blaze with a water can, Hackensack Fire Captain Justin Derevyanik said. Firefighters turned the scene back over to the homeowner, he said. No injuries were reported and the cause was not suspicious, Derevyanik said.

3 Hospitalized In Hackensack As Bergen HazMat Responds To Unknown Odor
One firefighter and two residents were sent to the hospital Thursday night after being exposed to an unknown odor in a Hackensack apartment building, fire officials said. Six people were injured including the three hospitalized, the other trio declined treatment, Hackensack Fire Captain Justin Derevyanik said. Authorities recovered a female body from the Hackensack River on Sunday, local police said. UPDATE: Body Pulled From River ID'd As Missing Woman, 26 First responders arrived just after 10 a.m. following a report of an unidentified body in the water behind the Shops at Riverside, authorities said. The body was recovered at 12:20 p.m., Hackensack Lt. Darrin Dewitt told Daily Voice.
