Late on Sunday, July 11 in Hampshire County, officers on patrol in Hadley conducted a traffic stop of a motorist who was driving 28 mph over the posted speed limit through the area. Hadley Police said that during the subsequent stop, it was determined that the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Missing Man Identified As Person Found In CT River, DA Says A body discovered by a kayaker in the Connecticut River has been identified as that of a missing 67-year-old  Western Massachusetts man, who hasn't been seen in nearly two months. Northwestern District Attorney spokeswoman Laurie Loisel confirmed the body was that of Franklin County resident Geoffrey Arthur, of Sutherland, who was reported missing on Monday, March 29. The fire began around 9:30 p.m. when police and fire officials responded to a report of a fully-involved barn fire on Shattuck Road in Hadley. Members of the Amherst Fire Department also responded. No injuries were reported in the fire, WesternMass News reported. Amherst firefighters said that the blaze could have been much worse. “While this barn was a loss, a strong effort by Hadley Fire prevented extension to an adjacent home,” said Amherst firefighters in a Facebook post.

Nickolaos “Nick” Sierros died at age 81, according to an obituary written by his family and published in the Daily Hampshire Gazette.
