As Halloween approaches, officials are taking measures to ensure that New Yorkers can have a safe and scary-good time. Starting Friday, Oct. 27, and lasting through Tuesday, Oct. 31, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that both state and local law enforcement will be on patrol in an attempt to crack down on impaired driving. The Halloween Grinch has descended on the South Orange-Maplewood School District. In a letter sent to families, Superintendent Dr. Ronald Taylor said SOMSD will not have any Halloween events during school hours, and no costumes will be worn during school hours. One New Jersey town is asking residents again to switch their trick-or-treating date due to its annual Halloween parade scheduled for Halloween Night. And residents seem to be okay with it.
