Nearly all customers should have power back as of noon Wednesday, July 3 after an army of tree trimmers and repair crews descended on the island following a series of weekend storms that left more than 95,000 homes and businesses without power.

Hit-Run Suspect Nabbed After Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Lynbrook
A Nassau County man has been arrested for allegedly running down an elderly man and then leaving the scene of the fatal accident, said the Nassau County Police.
Harley Dix, 48, of Lynwood, was arrested by the Nassau County Police Homicide Squad following the death that took place around 7:57 p.m.Thursday, April 25, in Lynbrook, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, the man was crossing Merrick Road near Blossom Heath Avenue, when he was struck by a gray Nissan. The vehicle left scene westbound on Merrick Road without stopping, police said.
