3 Charged During Long Island Massage Parlor Raid, Police Say
Three women were arrested on various charges, including prostitution, after an undercover investigation on Long Island, according to police.
The raid took place on Thursday, Nov. 30 in Franklin Square after Nassau County Police conducted an undercover investigation at Zen Retreat Spa, located at 346 Franklin Avenue.
A 30-year-old Hicksville woman was taken into custody and charged with unauthorized practice of a profession.
A 31-year-old woman from Jamaica, Queens was also arrested and charged with prostitution.

Man Assaults Pair, Holds 1 Hostage On Long Island: Police
A Long Island man has been arrested after police say he assaulted a pair of people and held one of them hostage.
It happened on Saturday, Nov. 25 in Hicksville, according to Nassau County Police.
Just before 10:30 a.m., police responded to a home on Ohio Street, where 40-year-old John Howell of Hicksville was holding a woman, age 56, hostage inside.
Earlier in the morning, Howell had allegedly physically assaulted the woman and a 44-year-old man, even going as far as threatening them with a knife.

Selling Alcohol, Tobacco To Minors: Four Long Island Men Nabbed, Police Say
Four people were arrested after undercover investigators allegedly caught them selling alcohol and tobacco to minors.
On Wednesday, Oct. 11, Nassau County Police arrested the following men as part of its “Project 21” initiative:
Mohamad Hasan, age 62 of Elmhurst;
Edward Coughlin, age 39 of Seaford;
Tony Torres Navarro, age 42 of Locust Valley; and
Vikram V. Billa, age 27 of Glen Cove.
The arrests were made using underage agents, officials said.
Hasan is accused of selling tobacco at Star Bazzar Smoke Shop, located in Hicksville at 316 North Broadway.

Knife-Wielding Robber Swipes $2,500 Off Victims On Long Island
Police are searching for a man who pushed down a duo, slashed his knife at them, and made off with thousands in a Long Island robbery.
It happened on Thursday, Aug. 17 in Hicksville, according to Nassau County Police.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., two 40-year-old men were walking down Lee Avenue near the intersection of Linden Boulevard when the robber struck.
He appeared on a bicycle, police said, and after coming up to the pair of men the suspected robber pushed them down onto the ground.
The suspect took around $2,500 and a cell phone from the victims.

After Breaking Into 18 Long Island Businesses, Duo Finally Nabbed At Bagel Shop, Police Say
Two men are behind bars in connection with a string of burglaries at Long Island businesses.
Diego Ercoli, age 50, and Hector Portilla, age 60, both of Queens, were arrested Thursday, Aug. 3, after they were caught breaking into Merrick’s Bagel Chalet on Merrick Road, according to Nassau County Police.
Detectives said the men were behind 18 other burglaries that have occurred throughout Nassau County since April 2023, including in Hicksville, New Hyde Park, and Oceanside.
