Teen Among 2 Struck By Cars In Ridgewood 30 Minutes Apart: Police Two people including a 17-year-old boy were struck by vehicles in separate incidents minutes apart on Thursday morning, Oct. 10. The first incident involved the teen at 8:08 a.m., Ridgewood Police Capt. Glenn Ender said. He was riding an electric bicycle when he collided with a vehicle on Ackerman Avenue near Lenox. Minor injuries were reported and he was not hospitalized. Then, at 8:27 a.m., a 24-year-old woman was struck at N. Maple Avenue and E. Ridgewood Avenue. She was taken to The Valley Hospital in Paramus with minor injuries, Ender said.

1 Killed After House Fire Breaks Out In Seaford One person died in an overnight house fire on Long Island. The blaze broke out at around 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, in Seaford. First responders observed the second floor of the home on Crescent Cove Drive engulfed in flames.  The Seaford Fire Department extinguished the flames, but the residence sustained extensive damage.  An 85-year-old man was removed from the residence and transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after midnight on Tuesday, Oct. 8, by a hospital physician. Teen Football Player Airlifted After Losing Feeling In Legs In Sparta, Police Say A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after he was injured playing football on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 21, in Sussex County authorities said. At 8:11 p.m., the boy was playing football at Station Park in Sparta Township when he temporarily lost feeling in his legs, Sparta Township Police Captain Thomas Snyder said.  An Atlantic Air helicopter transported the boy to Morristown Medical Center, Snyder said.  The young athlete regained feeling in both legs before the helicopter arrived, but was still hospitalized for for further evaluation, Snyder said.

Worker Airlifted Following Accident At Inwood Industrial Business An employee was hospitalized following an accident at a Long Island industrial business. Emergency crews in Inwood were called to the Inwood Material Terminal located on Sheridan Boulevard shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17. Nassau County Police said a preliminary investigation found that a 49-year-old man fell off the platform of an excavator and landed on the ground. Medics at the scene treated the victim for back trauma before he was flown to a hospital. The man was conscious and alert throughout the ordeal, police said. The accident is under investigation.
