Pickup Truck Plows Into Hillsdale Convenience Store
A pickup truck plowed into a Hillsdale convenience store Sunday night. No injuries were reported after the truck crashed through the front of the Quick Shop on Patterson Street off Hillsdale Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Borough police and firefighters were among the responders. The truck was towed and a building inspector was notified to determine whether there was any structural damage to the building. Hillsdale Car Fire Victim Airlifted With Severe Burns
A 20-year-old victim was airlifted from the parking lot of a Hillsdale swim club Sunday night with severe burns. AirMed One flew the victim to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston with burns on his arms and throat after police, firefighters and EMS were summoned to the Stonybrook Swim Club on Cedar Lane off Piermont Avenue around 10 p.m., responders said. The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office was notified. The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence. Hillsdale police detectives were investigating. Glen Rock PD Nabs Paterson Hit-Run Driver Who Injured Hillsdale Motorist
Glen Rock police tracked down an unlicensed hit-and-run driver from Paterson who they said injured a 20-year-old Hillsdale motorist. The victim was stopped in traffic on Grove Street near Prospect Street last week when a vehicle driven by Samone T. Wade, 30, rear-ended him, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. Wade took off before responding officers arrived, but by then the victim had collected information about her vehicle, Ackermann said. A River Vale father of two was electrocuted Wednesday when he apparently touched a live wire downed by Tropical Storm Isaias, responders said. John Fahey, 68, was clearing branches and other debris from his front yard on Demarest Avenue at the Hillsdale border when he apparently walked into the wire around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, they said. Another Drive-In Theater Opens In Bergen County
The Ramsey Theatre has reopened as a drive-in theater after nearly four months of being closed due to COVID-19. The new pop-up location is in the Smith School parking lot on Monroe Street, and opened last week with showings of "Jurassic Park." Firefighters Douse Westwood Blaze
Firefighters doused a quick-moving blaze that severely damaged a Westwood home Thursday morning. The fire broke out on the second floor of the Hillside Avenue home around 5:15 a.m. and blew through the attic. A candle left burning overnight may have been to blame, responders said.
