Woman Found Dead Inside Rockland Home Following Fire
A woman was found dead inside her Rockland County home following an intense fire that heavily damaged the residence. The fire took place around 5:50 a.m., Wednesday, March 25, at 9 Wheeler Place in West Nyack, said the Clarkstown Police Department. As units from the police department arrived on the scene of the single-family home they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the house which kept them from gaining access to the home, police said. A 5,500-square-foot Fairfield County home received significant damage following a fire. The fire broke out around 9:03 a.m., Friday, Feb. 28, at a home on Hemlock Drive in Greenwich, said Greenwich Assistant Fire Chief Robert Kick. Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Dumont Firefighters Douse Basement Blaze
Dumont firefighters made quick work of an overnight basement fire Thursday that sent smoke through a home. Smoke alarms roused residents, who all fled the 2½ -story Virginia Avenue home safely, authorities said. Firefighters responding to the blaze shortly before 2 a.m. got in through a side door and had the bulk of it knocked down in roughly 15 minutes. Firefighters Knock Down Madison Garage, Car Fire
Madison firefighters knocked down garage fire Sunday morning. Flames were contained to an attached garage and car, which was parked in the driveway of the Kings Road home when firefighters arrived after 8 a.m. Firefighters ventilated the two-story home as the blaze was being knocked down. The cause is under investigation but appears to be accidental in nature.

Pre-Dawn Thanksgiving Blaze Damages Hillsdale Home
Firefighters doused a pre-dawn Thanksgiving Day blaze in a Hillsdale home. The fire broke out just after 2 a.m. in the second-floor bedroom of the Lincoln Avenue home and quickly went to two alarms, borough fire officials said. All of the occupants got out OK, they said. The fire was contained to the bedroom and declared under control around 3 a.m., less than an hour after the call came in, fire officials said. Mutual aid was provided by firefighters from Park Ridge, River Vale, Westwood and Woodcliff Lake.

Fire Damages Bridgeport Home
A Bridgeport home was badly damaged after a fire ripped through the residence. The fire began around midnight on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 140 Marilyn Drive, in Bridgeport, said Terron Jones, a spokesman for the fire department. Responding fire units reported a heavy fire in the ranch-style home. The couple who lived at the home were alerted by smoke alarms and were able to safely escape, Jones said. Bridgeport firefighters had the fire under control within 45 minutes, he added. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal.

UPDATE: One dog died while another survived a weekend fire that severely damaged an Englewood home, authorities said.
