Smash-And-Grab Burglars Flee Fairview Deli With Cash, Lottery Tickets, Registers
A burglary crew smashed their way into a Fairview deli overnight before making off with two cash registers, $800 in cash and lottery tickets, police said.
Three bandits threw a stone through the glass to enter Panela's Deli on Walker Street just off 6th Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, Capt. Michael Martic said.
They fled in a Honda Civic (photo above), driven by a fourth member, that headed east on Walker Street and then north on Anderson Avenue, the captain said.
One of the burglars apparently had dreadlocks, Martic said.

Two rival groups shot at each other inside and outside a Connecticut 7-Eleven, sending employees and customers scrambling for safety.
The incident occurred in New Haven around 1:55 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 3, at the 7-Eleven at 400 Foxon Blvd.
When police arrived, they found a chaotic scene and one person injured from shattered glass, but miraculously no one was shot, said Capt. Rose Dell of the New Haven Police.
According to eyewitnesses, a BMW was seen parked in the lot, followed by a gray Honda Civic, Dell said.

Hackensack Police Find Fleeing Crashed Carjacker At The Hospital
A 22-year-old delivery driver from Hackensack carjacked two teens, crashed their car while fleeing, then was arrested after checking himself into the hospital, authorities said.
The victims waved down police after their car was boxed in by five other vehicles on Kennedy Street around 1 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, said Capt. Michael Antista, the officer in charge of the department.
Nelson Paida-Uzhca assaulted them, then took their 2011 Honda Civic, the captain said.
Paida-Uzhca struck a pole on East Wesley Avenue in South Hackensack moments later, then took off on foot, Antista said.
