Fatal Crash Causes Hours-Long Closure On Taconic Parkway
This story has been updated. A stretch of the Taconic State Parkway was closed throughout the morning commute following a fatal crash. The closure was southbound in Hopewell Junction between Route 29/Carpenter Road and Route 52. The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, but the lanes remained closed until around 10:30 a.m. during the accident investigation. During the closure, motorists were advised by authorities to take Route 9 as an alternate or to get off at Beekman Road and take Route 376 to Route 52, then get back on the Taconic. A bank in the area has temporarily closed one of its branches after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The Hudson Valley Credit Union branch in Hopewell Junction said it was notified Wednesday, Aug. 5, of the positive test for the employee who works in the branch. Details Emerge After Tech Entrepreneur From Hudson Valley Found Dismembered
New details have been released after a tech mogul from the Hudson Valley was found dismembered with his body stuffed in garbage bags in his Manhattan apartment. Fahim Saleh, 33, a longtime Dutchess County resident who started his career while living in Hopewell Junction, was found murdered and dismembered by someone “dressed as a ninja” in all black, investigators said. Saleh, who was born in Saudi Arabia, moved with his parents to the Poughkeepsie area in his early teens. A round of scattered severe thunderstorms with damaging winds that could cause power outages is sweeping through the area. Two Store Clerks Charged With Selling Alcohol To Minor During Detail, State Police Say
Two store clerks were charged with selling alcohol to a minor during an underage enforcement operation conducted by state police in the area. The detail, held on Saturday, May 23 in Dutchess, utilized an underage volunteer to purchase alcohol under the observation of plainclothes investigators and supported by uniformed troopers.
