Brace For Isolated Twisters, Flash Flooding Across NJ, Forecasters Say
Up to three inches of rain, flash flooding and damaging winds were expected Thursday across New Jersey.
A flash flood watch was in effect for Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties Thursday morning into Friday.
Severe thunderstorms with potential for isolated twisters were also possible, the National Weather Service says.
The main threat was expected midday Thursday into the early overnight hours, the NWS says.
Storms were, however, expected to move out quickly Friday.

Thousands of New Jersey residents were still without power Monday, six days after Tropical Storm Isaias hit the region.
As of 10:30 a.m., there were nearly 5,600 residents in the dark, according to utility company outage maps. Sunday night, there were approximately 20,900 outages across New Jersey, according to Gov. Phil Murphy.
Many residents who had power recently restored were waiting for internet service. Restoration times for those still without power were Monday and Tuesday nights.

Bergen, Hudson Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez Says She Has Coronavirus, Shares Symptoms
Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez says she tested positive for coronavirus.
Jimenez (D-Bergen, Hudson) was tested at Holy Name Hospital on Sunday, and has since been in self-quarantine at home, she said in a statement.
New Jersey had 18,696 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 267 deaths as of Tuesday.
Jimenez's symptoms came on swiftly on Saturday, starting with a pounding headache and body aches.
She contacted her doctor, got tested and results returned Tuesday were positive, she said. Her eighth grade daughter Gianna is showing no symptoms, the assemblywoman said.
