Triple Shooting Kills Irvington Woman In Newark
A 41-year-old Irvington woman was killed in a triple shooting in Newark on Monday evening, May 22, authorities said. Police responded to a shooting on the 900 block of 18th Avenue and found Latoya Miller-Kone suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Two serial robbers from Irvington have been charged with murder in connection with a Newark shooting after a police pursuit, authorities announced. Both Deontee Jones, 24, and Earl Betterson, 33, have been arrested in the shooting death of Romulo Luzuriaga on Thursday, May 11, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Two Hillside gas stations were robbed five times over the course of three days, police said. On Saturday, May 6, two men in a black Hyundai Santa Fe robbed the gas station attendant and attempted to carjack a vehicle at the Mobil gas station at 1410 N Broad St, police said.
