Long Island Woman Rescued By Good Samaritans After Car Crashes Into Tree, Bursts Into Flames
A woman who was trapped in her burning car after it crashed into a tree was rescued by good Samaritans on Long Island.
Becky Boeckmann, age 35, of Bohemia, was driving a 2009 Pontiac G6 eastbound in Islandia on Express Drive South, near Enter Lane, when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree at approximately 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, Suffolk County Police said.
The vehicle then caught fire, according to police.
The three good Samaritans, including two off-duty members of the Central Islip Fire Department, were passing by and stopped to help Boeckmann, said police.

Matthew Matuza, age 42, of Central Islip, was riding a 2013 Ducati motorcycle eastbound on Motor Parkway when he was struck by a westbound 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe as the driver, Rachel Grube, age 23, of Hauppauge, attempted to make a left turn onto Veterans Memorial Highway, Suffolk County Police said.

A Long Island woman driving drunk was rescued after she drove her vehicle into a pond.
The incident happened on Thursday, Jan. 14, at approximately 7:50 p.m. in Ronkonkoma.
Melissa McMullen, age 39, of Islandia, drove a 2009 Mercury Mountaineer SUV into a pond at Colony Park Apartments, located at 500 Peconic St., according to Suffolk County Police.
Fifth Precinct and Emergency Service Section officers responded.

A suspect has been nabbed for allegedly leaving the scene of a crash at a busy Long Island intersection that seriously injured two people, police said.
The crash occurred at around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 in Islandia.
