The crash happened around 6:40 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 on the southbound side in Suffolk County, police said. Jaylen Kelly, 19, of Islip Terrace, was the operator of a 2002 Toyota Corolla and was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital and succumbed to his injuries. Islip Terrace resident Jacqueline O’Neill, 30, was stopped by a Suffolk County Sheriff’s deputy shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, when she was spotted crossing the double yellow line on North Ocean Avenue repeatedly in Brookhaven. During the subsequent traffic stop, it was determined that O’Neill “demonstrated clues while performing standardized field sobriety tests indicating she was intoxicated.” O’Neill was arrested and transported …

Laurie Addeo, 61, a resident of the home, was killed when the fire started around 2:12 a.m., Friday, Sept. 27, at the home at 3 Washington Ave., said the Suffolk County Police. Police said the five other residents of the home were able to escape unharmed. Detectives do not believe the cause of the fire is suspicious, police said. At least six fire departments responded to help battle the blaze including Islip Terrace, East Islip, Central Islip, Islip, Brentwood, and East Brentwood.
