UPDATE: A volunteer firefighter charged in a horrific road-rage crash that nearly killed a fellow group of fellow Bergen County teens earlier this week left the scene and then returned as a responder, authorities said. Luke Stein, 18, who was taken into custody in Colorado on Friday, Oct. 14, became a volunteer firefighter in Alpine and Demarest earlier this year, records show. New Jersey State Police seek the public’s help with the investigation of a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on the Garden State Parkway in Central Jersey. Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives determined that at 12:27 a.m., on Sept. 19, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Mini Cooper were traveling northbound in the express lanes of the parkway in Old Bridge Township. State Police ID Driver Killed In Garden State Parkway Crash
A 39-year-old driver from Teaneck was killed in an overnight crash on the Garden State Parkway in Central Jersey, authorities said. Gabriel Farias was heading north in a Mini Cooper next to a Jeep Grand Cherokee when the two vehicles sideswiped each other around 12:26 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19 near exit 120 in Old Bridge, New Jersey State Police said. The Mini Cooper then struck a concrete barrier, a guardrail and subsequently overturned, police said. Farias died as a result of the crash, authorities said. There is an ongoing investigation.

Detectives are searching for a third suspect in connection to a theft and assault at a Home Depot in Montgomery County, authorities say.
