A Long Island police officer has been indicted by a special grand jury for allegedly making false statements in connection with the arrest of an area man who he claimed resisted arrest. Suffolk County Police Officer Matthew Cameron, age 33, of Commack, was charged Thursday, Dec. 2, with offering a false instrument for filing, said Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini. A 24-year-old man from Philadelphia was sentenced to eight years in a New Jersey State Prison for a five-car crash that left one person dead, authorities said. Majia Horner wasn't a bad kid, her mom Jennifer Horner says: "She just made a bad choice." ID Released For Man Killed After Being Struck By Jeep Near Long Island Intersection
The identity has been released of a man who was struck and killed near a busy Long Island intersection. The crash happened around 6:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 in Shirley. A 70-year-old Shirley man was driving a 2015 Jeep Wrangler southbound on William Floyd Parkway, near the intersection of Roberts Road when the vehicle struck the pedestrian in the roadway, Suffolk County Police said. A woman was critically injured after being struck by a Jeep on a Long Island roadway. The incident happened around 6:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in Oceanside.
