NJ Transit is looking beyond the farebox.
The agency has unveiled a sweeping new initiative called the "LAND Plan" (Leveraging Assets for Non-Farebox Dollars) to generate billions in new revenue by developing housing, retail, and solar projects on its own real estate, according to an October 2025 report.
The plan could bring $1.2 to $1.9 billion in additional revenue over the next 30 years, create up to 50,000 jobs, and help ease New Jersey’s housing shortage by building between 14,000 and 20,000 new housing units, including up to 4,000 affordable homes, officials said.

'Baltimore County Not Sanctuary Jurisdiction' Exec Says After Being Named By DOJ
The US Department of Justice has officially named just one Maryland city in its newly released list of “sanctuary jurisdictions” — and it's joined only by Washington, DC, as the only two locations in the DMV region.

Jersey City Man Charged With Murder In Neptune Avenue Homicide: Prosecutor
A 35-year-old Jersey City resident was arrested and charged with murdering a 56-year-old man, authorities announced Tuesday, July 29.
On Friday, July 25, at 9 a.m., officers responded to Neptune and Garfield Avenues and found Joey Richburg unresponsive, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Suarez said.

A 36-year-old Jersey City resident was arrested and charged for a home invasion following a two-hour standoff on Saturday, July 26, authorities said.
