In the wake of incidents involving pipe bombs sent to the home of Bill and Hillary Clinton and political activist George Soros in Westchester, area officials in Westchester are teaming with federal officials to increase security in the region. On Wednesday, pipe bombs that were headed to the home of the Clintons in Chappaqua and former President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C. were intercepted by Secret Service members. Man Sentenced For Burglarizing Area Home, Fleeing To Russia
A Fairfield County man who fled the country to Russia in an attempt to avoid a burglary charge dating back to an incident in Putnam County in 2014 has been sentenced. Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy announced on Wednesday that Sandy Hook resident Anthony Magliocco, 29, has been sentenced to 14 years in state prison after being convicted of first-degree burglary and an additional one to four years for second-degree bail jumping after he broke into a family member’s home in Southeast and menaced his family. A Senegalese national escaped ICE agents who were deporting him at JFK Airport, said authorities who were searching for him. Mohamadou Lamine Mbacke, 31, "was in ICE custody awaiting removal via a commercial airline flight through JFK Tuesday before absconding" at Terminal 4's Gate B23, said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Khaalid Walls.
