Philadelphia Police Name Officer Killed In Airport Shooting (

Two Philadelphia police officers were shot — one fatally — while in the parking garage at the Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday night. Officer Richard Mendez, a 50-year-old with 22 years in the department, was hit multiple times and died from his wounds, PPD brass said at a Friday evening press conference. Officer Raul Ortiz, 60, was hit once in the arm and is in stable condition at Jefferson Hospital, according to Interim Commissioner John Stanford. A man who graduated from a high school in Westchester has been returned to American soil after being detained in Iran for almost eight years. Siamak Namazi, who once lived in Westchester, was returned home to the US along with four other American citizens on Monday, Sept. 18, President Joe Biden announced. A 20-year-old undocumented immigrant was arrested in connection with a deadly stabbing in the region that occurred after he was released from custody despite being wanted for another broad-daylight stabbing. For the first time since taking office, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s favorability rating is in the negative, new polling finds.
