A rash of water mishaps up and down the Jersey Coast continued Saturday with a search for a missing kayaker in the Raritan Bay, less than 24 hours after a Toms River boater drowned in Barnegat Bay -- and moments before two other people had to be rescued off Keansburg. Authorities on Sunday suspended a search for the kayaker. Bayshore Men Charged In Eatontown Shooting
Three Bayshore men were charged with attempted murder in last month's shooting of a 20-year-old Eatontown man, authorities said. John Carozza, 18, and Rashahn Tucker, 19, both of Middletown, and Leo Morabito of Keansburg were charged with attempted murder and unlawful possession of a weapon, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said Friday. The victim was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries on March 13 with gunshot wounds, spokesman Charles Webster said. Wife Of Former Jersey Shore Mayor Found Shot Dead At Home
The wife of former Long Branch Mayor Philip Huhn deliberately shot and killed herself in her home Friday morning, authorities confirmed. Investigators determined that the death of June Huhn, 73, was a suicide, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccionni said. Officers responding to the Norwood Avenue home found Kuhn dead from a gunshot wound to the chest, the prosecutor said, adding that her husband, 75, was home when they arrived His detectives investigated along with Long Branch police. Couple Admit Roles In Ring That Trafficked Fentanyl-Laced Heroin Into Raritan Bayshore
A Pennsylvania man admitted in federal court in Trenton that he participated in a drug ring that trafficked major quantities of heroin and cocaine into the Raritan Bayshore area. Guy Jackson, 47, was the 10th defendant snagged in a federal sweep to plead guilty in exchange for leniency at sentencing. The 11th is his wife, Lashawn Mealing, 48, who admitted trying to destroy evidence in the case.
