Sears, once the world's largest retailer, has now officially filed for bankruptcy, while announcing plans to close another 142 unprofitable Sears and Kmart stores, including several in the area. Woman Charged With Violating Order Of Protection In Northern Westchester
A Dutchess County woman has been remanded into the custody of the Westchester County Department of Corrections after allegedly violating a Temporary Order of Protection issued in Putnam, according to police in Yorktown. Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, officers from the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched to the Kmart parking lot on Downing Drive, where there was a report of two people arguing in a vehicle. Elmwood Park's Kmart will be closing on July 28, store officials said. Hundreds of Kmart and Sears stores, owned by Sears Holdings Corporation, have closed across the U.S. in an effort to save cash.
