With Memorial Day in the rearview mirror, AAA is cautioning that the holiday kicked off the “100 Deadliest Days” for teen drivers on area roadways. Over the past five years, nearly 3,500 people have been killed in crashes involving teen drivers during the 100 Deadliest Days - the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day - when the number of crash fatalities involving a teen driver historically rise. Here's How Many Tickets CT State Police Dished Out Over Labor Day Weekend
The sheer numbers tell the story.Connecticut State Police troopers didn't get much rest and relaxation over the Labor Day weekend. Troopers dished out a total of nearly 4,000 tickets for everything from speeding to aggressive driving during the crackdown, which ran from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3. Here's a breakdown: 1,314 speeding tickets 2,474 total tickets for other hazardous moving violations (including unsafe lane change, following too closely, cell phone, texting, etc.). Troopers also arrested 24 people for DUI and investigated 281 accidents with no fatalities.

Crash Causes Lengthy Delays On I-95
This story has been updated. The Labor Day weekend started off with a crawl -- on a stretch of I-95 in Fairfield County, at least. A serious crash initially took out the right lane on the southbound side in Darien between Noroton Avenue (Exit 10) and Route 1/Post Road (Exit 9). There was stopped traffic at the scene and stop-and-go delays of about a half-hour to Exit 13 after the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. There were residual delays after the lane reopened about an hour later.

After reaching a five-year peak, prices have been slowly, but surely dropping, with Connecticut’s average price per gallon of regular self-serve gas dropping to $3.09, down a few cents from a week ago.
