Animal Cruelty Suspect Escapes Jail Sentence: Gets Lifetime Ban On Owning Pets: Prosecutor Says
Over objections from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, a 30 year-old woman from Toms River will not get any jail time on an animal cruelty charge in which three dogs died. Instead, Alyssa DeStefano was sentenced on Friday to 60 hours of community service, probation and a lifetime ban on owning animals, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Four New Jersey residents were arrested for distributing heroin, fentanyl and cocaine following an investigation involving nearly a dozen law enforcement agencies, authorities said Thursday. A 30-year-old woman from the Jersey Shore has admitted to abandoning three dogs on an animal cruelty charge, authorities said.
