A Pennsylvania man who murdered his girlfriend and then fired more than 100 rounds at police has been sentenced to life in prison plus 41.5 to 85 years, the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office announced on Monday, April 14.
The shooter, 40, was convicted in February of first-degree murder, assaulting officers with a firearm, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and obstruction of justice following a five-day trial.

Cold Case: Human Remains Found On Island In Susquehanna River, PA State Police Say
A cold case is heating up as Pennsylvania State Police work with the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office to identify human remains discovered nearly 40 years ago on Weise Island, officials announced on Monday, April 7.
The remains were located on Tuesday, March 18, 1986, on the island in the Susquehanna River, according to a release from PSP Lancaster. Investigators believe the deceased was an African American man between 20 and 40 years old, standing about 6-foot-1 and weighing around 190 pounds.

A Lancaster County family is mourning the sudden loss of a teenage girl described as “a light” in the lives of everyone who knew her.
Kassidy Marie Wilk, age 14, of Elizabethtown, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 24, according to her obituary from Finkenbinder Family Funeral Home.
Kassidy was born in Hershey and raised by her grandparents, Thomas and Melinda Hackman, her family said. She played softball for Donegal High School, and also loved soccer, gymnastics, laughing at memes, and working at Papa John’s Pizza.
