Community Raises $58K+ For Family Of PA Firefighter Who Died After Battling Blaze In MD An Adams County man serving as a captain with a Maryland fire company has died from injuries sustained in the line of duty. Captain Joshua Laird, 46, of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, was a 21-year veteran of Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services, he tragically died in hospital after following through the floor of home during a fire, according to the fire company's Facebook page. Cuomo Becomes First New Yorker Named National Governors Association Chairman Andrew Cuomo has just become the first New Yorker to be named the chairman of the National Governors Association. Cuomo was unanimously voted to assume the top spot on Wednesday, Aug. 5.  Cuomo will take over for Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan. Cuomo had previously been the association’s vice chair under the Maryland lawmaker, who is term-limited and not eligible to run for re-election when his term ends in 2024.
