A longtime sports anchor in northeast Pennsylvania has died of COVID-19 complications, officials said. Blue Ridge Cable 13 announced the sudden death of Brian Unangst on Monday. He died the day after Christmas. Unangst has shared his passion for sports with the station's viewers since joining the team in 1991, BRC13 says. He has been awarded a Mid-Atlantic Emmy award for his coverage, according to the station's website. Police in the Lehigh Valley are asking for the public's help in identifying the owner of an SUV involved in a fatal dog shooting Thursday. A person driving a white SUV near Salisbury High School on East Montgomery Street around 5 p.m., is suspected of shooting and killing a dog in a resident's yard, Salisbury Township police said. A UPS box truck slammed into a Lehigh Valley home over the weekend, authorities said. Crews responding to a previous crash on Route 33 were called to the report of a UPS box truck into a Northampton County home on Dec. 18, the Nancy Run Fire Company said. RE1413, E1712, and Chief 17 arrived at the scene and worked to support the damaged areas of the home’s garage until a contractor arrived to stabilize the structure, the department said. Police Seek ID For Woman Who Racked Up $5K In Credit Card Fraud Around Lehigh Valley
Police are seeking the public’s help identifying a woman they say racked up $5,000 in fraudulent charges using a stolen credit card in the Lehigh Valley area. The woman, pictured above, stole the card from a Bethlehem Township resident and has been using the card at gas stations and Walmarts throughout the Lehigh Valley area since April, township police said in a Sunday release. A Burger King location in Northampton County abruptly closed its doors this week after more than 30 years in business The Morning Call reports. The signage of the Male Road and Route 512 store in Wind Gap was taken down this week, according to the report, which cites a worker and a written PR statement. Two cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant have been detected in the Lehigh Valley, health officials announced. Pennsylvania State Police are seeking the public's help locating five men believed to have stolen nearly $20,000 worth of merchandise from a Lehigh Valley Ulta Beauty store. A Lehigh Valley woman is facing up to 53 years in state prison for using an intellectually disabled girl to produce child porn, authorities announced. Zoraida Flores, 48, was living in Allentown when she was accused of sexually abusing her 13-year-old step-daughter in May 2020, Pennsylvania Attorney General Shapiro said.
