Police are seeking clues after a Lehigh Valley home was struck by gunfire over the weekend. Officers responded to the intersection of North 8th Street and Spring Garden Street in Easton just after 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, Easton Det. Benjamin Mastrofilippo said in a release. : Man In 'Mental Distress' Peacefully Surrenders At Hotel In Lehigh Valley, Police Say
7 p.m. UPDATE: A welfare check turned police standoff ended peacefully in the Lehigh Valley on Thursday, April 28, authorities said. Upper Macungie police and the Lehigh County Municipal Emergency Response Team were called to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Allentown West on Tilghman Street in Allentown on a report of a man in "mental distress," around 10:40 a.m., they said. The unidentified man who had been barricaded in a room eventually exited peacefully, according to police. No further information was provided.

Two victims were extricated from a crumpled car and taken to a nearby trauma center following a deadly Tuesday afternoon crash in the Lehigh Valley, authorities said. Emergency crews responding to the crash on Freemansburg Avenue near Linden Street in Bethlehem Township found a vehicle that had slammed into a wall and telephone pole shortly before 12 p.m., the Nancy Run Fire Company said. Crew members used hydraulic tools to safely remove the pair of victims from the crumpled vehicle.
