Long Island Expressway Stretch Reopens After Crash In Syosset
This story has been updated. A stretch of the Long Island Expressway has reopened after a serious crash on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 14. The crash happened in Syosset around 2 p.m., closing all lanes westbound at Exit 41. The lanes reopened at around 4 p.m. Details on the crash have not yet been released. A motorist accused of riding at nearly twice the speed limit on the Long Island Expressway was allegedly driving while intoxicated. On Friday, Dec. 22, Suffolk County Sheriff's Office deputies working the DWI Enforcement Team observed Oscar Flores-Fuentes, age 28, swerving over the roadway lines near Exit 57 in Islandia while traveling at approximately 105 MPH in a 55-mile-per-hour zone. A local man has been accused of driving drunk with a young child on board after a minivan crashed on the Long Island Expressway on Christmas Day. The incident happened around 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 25 on the eastbound side near Exit 66 in Yaphank when a 2019 Toyota Sienna crashed into the center median, Suffolk County Police said. Fatal Long Island Expressway Crash: 45-Year-Old Driver ID'd As Victim
Police are investigating a deadly highway crash on Long Island that killed a 45-year-old man. The incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, on the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville, according to Suffolk County Police. An investigation found that Matthew Pawlak, of Riverhead, was driving a Jeep eastbound on I-495 when he lost control between exits 62 and 63, crashing head-on into the center median.
