The victim told Washington Township Police that the accountant was hired to help the victim file a tax amendment in July 2021, authorities said. The victim gave the accountant the amendment fee of $3,100 but after following up learned that the accountant never filed the amendment and instead pocketed the money, police say. The accountant — a Long Valley man whose name was not released — was charged with theft by deception and is scheduled to appear in Morris County Superior Court.

Woman, 59, Hit By Car In Morris County A 59-year-old woman was hospitalized after being hit by a car in Morris County, authorities said. The woman, a Long Valley resident, was hit in the parking lot of the Washington Township Municipal Building on Schooleys Mountain Road just before 9:20 a.m. Friday, police Lt.
