Suspect Wanted On Felony Warrants Apprehended After Pursuit Ends In Western Mass A man wanted on felony warrants was arrested following a lengthy pursuit that ended in Western Massachusetts. A trooper located the vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Maine, in Worcester County at the Charlton Service Plaza on the Massachusetts Turnpike westbound at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, according to Massachusetts State Police. The trooper found the driver sleeping in the back seat of the 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor. School District In Hampden County Appoints New Superintendent A veteran educator in New England has been named as the newest superintendent of a Western Massachusetts School District. The School Committee voted unanimously 5-0 to name Dr. Frank Tiano, the interim middle school principal at the Dover-Sherburn Public School in Norfolk County as the newest head of the Ludlow School District, officials announced. Tiano beat out a group of three other prominent educators who are currently in various positions throughout Massachusetts school districts, including administrators and other superintendents. Apparent School Violence Threat Under Investigation In Hampden County Police in Western Massachusetts were called into action to investigate a rumor regarding an alleged threat made toward an area high school. In Hampden County, the Ludlow Police Department issued an alert after it was alerted to a threat regarding school violence at the high school shortly before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2. According to Lt. David R.G. Irwin, working with administrators at the Ludlow High School, they traced the rumor back to its source, a student at the high school, and ultimately determined that the threat was not credible.

Man Charged With Assault, Battery Of Police In Hampden County A Western Massachusetts man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting several police officers as they attempted to arrest him. Hampden County resident Norman Lafond, age 44, of Springfield, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14 after Ludlow Police received calls of a suspicious male. According to Ludlow Police, callers told officers that Lafond was allegedly falling all over the road and into snowbanks. Arrest Made Following Deadly Western Mass Crash Police arrested a man for vehicular homicide in connection to a motor two-car crash that killed one person in Massachusetts.  Hampden County resident Javier Morales, age 34, was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 26 by the Ludlow Police in connection with a crash that took place on Sunday, Aug. 22.
