Gotcha! Boonton Bank Robber Captured, Authorities Say
A Boonton man was captured and charged with robbing a local Wells Fargo bank eight days ago.
Andrew T. Merceruio, 37, was being held in the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, charged with bank robbery and theft, authorities said.
Merceruio, a native of Martinsburg, West Virginia, was captured on surveillance video on Nov. 27, when he robbed the Wells Fargo branch on Wootton Street, they said.
No weapon was displayed, nor threats made, when the robber demanded money and made off with $2,000, responders said.

Just as quickly as a band of bandits held up four businesses in Paterson, city detectives had six suspects in custody.
The work of the department’s investigators is “remarkable and noteworthy based on their dedication and tireless efforts,” city Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said Friday.

Remains Dug Up, Stolen From Connecticut Cemetery, Police Say
Remains have been dug up and taken from a grave at a Jewish cemetery in Connecticut, prompting a police investigation.
Detectives responded to the Agues Achim Cemetery in Hartford at Waverly Street and Tower Avenue this week, where there was a report of a grave from the 1950s that was dug up, police said. It is unclear when the remains were taken, though it may have happened on, or around Halloween.

Search On For Suspect After Woman Raped While Walking Home, Stamford Police Say
Police are looking for a man who raped a woman who had been walking home and are asking the public for help.
Stamford Police Sgt. Jennifer Lynch said a woman in her 20s was raped around 12:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, while walking home in the area of East Main Street and Lockwood Avenue.
The woman, who went to the hospital following the attack, was able to provide police with a basic description of her attacker, Lynch said.
Lynch said the man is described as being a Hispanic male, about 30 years old, 5-foot-9, with short hair. He was reportedly wearing a gray sweatshirt and dark pants.
