Hackensack Woman Raising Awareness Toward Rare Cancer That Claimed Best Friend's Life
A Hackensack woman is raising awareness toward the rare hormonal cancer that suddenly took her best friend's life over the summer. In honor of World NET (Neuroendocrine) Cancer Day Nov. 10, Amanda Pizzimenti is launching a website and fundraiser for Kerry Snow of Manalapan. Snow succumbed to the illness at 28 years old in August, two months after her diagnosis. All proceeds from sales on Pizzimenti's site will go toward the NET Cancer Research Foundation in Snow's name. In-the-act surveillance video shows two members of a burglary crew who Fairview police said stole cash, cigarettes and scratch-off lottery tickets -- some of them winners -- from a trio of borough convenience stores. The burglarized delis -- Good News (twice) Big Max and Fair Ridge -- are all on Bergen Boulevard, Lt. Michael Martic said. Each time, the bandits pried open the front door, then stole the scratch-off tickets, cartons of cigarettes, cash and even cash registers, he said. PHOTOS: Ramsey Rescue members extricated the driver of an overturned Jeep after a crash with an SUV Friday afternoon on rain-slicked southbound Route 17. The Jeep driver -- a 32-year-old Manalapan man -- was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that Police Chief Bryan Gurney said weren't life-threatening after squad members got him out of the vehicle following the 2:25 p.m. crash. Wallkill Man ID'd As Passenger In Orange County Crash That Killed Pilot
The passenger has been identified in a small plane crash on Saturday morning that resulted in the death of a Westchester man. Mamaroneck resident Aaron D. Panken, 53, president of a leading Jewish seminary, died from injuries suffered when a yellow Aeronca 7AC aircraft crashed into the woods just after takeoff from Randall Airport in Middletown at around 9:30 a.m. Flight instructor Frank Riess, 65, of Wallkill sustained non-life threatening injuries.
