Devere Rogers was struck near McCarter Highway and 4th Avenue around 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.  The driver did not stop to render aid or call for help, they said. Woman Struck And Killed By Car Near Newark Penn Station The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating after a woman was hit by a car in Newark and died early Monday morning, a spokesman confirmed.  The woman, whose identity was not immediately released, was hit near Penn Station, in the area of McCarter Highway and Market Street, around 2:20 a.m. She was pronounced dead at University Hospital about a half-hour later.  The driver remained at the scene, the prosecutor's office also said.

Wright, a 31-year-old East Orange resident, entered the station on McCarter Highway around 1:30 a.m Tuesday. The shirtless Wright demanded a specific amount in cash and repeatedly punched the station employee until another worker gave Wright the cash he asked for, police said.
