Speeding Driver Tried Running On Foot After Deadly Hit-Run Route 9 Crash: Report
A South Jersey man was arrested in a crash that killed a 59-year-old man on Route 9 in Cape May County earlier this month, authorities said.
Glenn Dunleavy, of Del Haven, in Middle Township, was driving at a "high rate of speed" when he struck Richard Geere, of Burleigh, who was in the crosswalk around 9:20 p.m. June 20, NJ Advance Media says citing township police.
Geere was pronounced dead at the scene — the intersection of Route 147, the outlet said. Meanwhile, Dunleavy drove for another 1.5 miles until he crashed on Indian Trail Road and fled on foot, police said.

Motorist, 31, Veers Into Woods, Killed In Fiery South Jersey Crash: Police
A 31-year-old driver was killed when his car veered into trees and burst into flames, authorities said.
On Sunday, May 1, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Middle Township police responded to the Burleigh section of Middle Township for a vehicle that had crashed near Shunpike and Oyster roads, police said.
Police found the vehicle had struck multiple trees, overturned and was now on fire, they said.
The driver was entrapped and unable to be removed from the vehicle.
The driver, Jordan Lee, of Burleigh, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

East Coast Ring Stole High-End GPS Devices From Boatyards In NJ, Elsewhere, State Police Charge
An ex-con with a previous history of boat-related thefts was part of a Miami-based ring that stole GPS systems from boatyards along the East Coast, including more than $300,000 worth in New Jersey, authorities said.
Mizael Alfonso, 47, and co-defendant Marie Frometa Rodriguez, 41, were captured at a motel in Plymouth, MA, New Jersey State Police said.
A third defendant, Manuel Barbosa Mendiluza, 58, was arrested by Miami police, while a fourth, Ciro Perez Martinez, 29, was nabbed by the Miami-Dade Marine Theft Task Force.
All were extradited to New Jersey, NJ State Police said.

Body Found In South Jersey May Be Missing Teen, Police Say
A body found in a wooded area of South Jersey could be that of a missing teen, authorities say.
The body was found along the 200 block of East Lena Street in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township on Sept. 8.
While authorities say they can't positively identify the body, evidence collected at the scene leads detectives to believe the victim is Leila Bellamy, 18, of Whitesboro, they say.
