Ten days after a deer caused a crash, a seat-belted passenger— who was a mother of four— has died, authorities say.
Richard E.A. Ditzler, 40, of Middletown, swerved to avoid a deer that ran in front of his 2009 Ford Escape on Manada Bottom Road in East Hanover Township at about 3:11 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 3, state police say.
Ditzler drove off the roadway into a ditch, hit a tree, and flipped over onto the Ford’s roof, according to the release.

Swatara Firefighter Mourned As 'Beautiful, Impactful'
A central Pennsylvania community is mourning the loss of a beloved firefighter.
Carrie Ann Rafuse, 25, of Middletown, suddenly died on Wednesday, Oct. 13, according to her obituary.
It is believed Rafuse was the firefighter who died by suicide on Oct. 13, although this has not been confirmed by officials.
Rafuse was a graduate of Northern York High School, Dillsburg and of Duquesne University, according to her obituary.

Car, Foot Chase Leads To Arrest Of Woman Accused Of Stealing $1,800 In Hunterdon Ulta Perfumes
Police arrested a woman accused of shoplifting nearly $1,800 worth of perfumes in Hunterdon County following a vehicle and foot chase in Pennsylvania, authorities said.
Mahogany D. Caldwell, of Trenton, was identified as the suspect in an investigation into the August 2 theft of $1,793.45 worth of fragrances from ULTA Beauty in the Shoppes At Flemington, local police said.
A follow-up investigation led to a “multi-state, multi-jurisdictional shoplifting case” and a warrant for Caldwell's arrest, Flemington Police said.
