A Northern Westchester home built in the 1890s was destroyed overnight when a massive fire broke out, officials said. First responders from multiple agencies responded to a home on Bedford Road at 1:11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18 in Pleasantville, when a fire was discovered by a New Castle Fire Marshal who was passing by in the area. This story has been updated. An explosion that has caused extensive damage to a home in Northern Westchester led to the hourslong closure of a stretch of Route 100 (Saw Mill River Road). A bus was destroyed and two others damaged when a two-alarm fire ripped through a bus storage and repair garage in Yorktown Heights. The fire was reported at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday at the Baumann & Sons Bus Corporation at 1701 Front St., according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department. A seven-bedroom home sustained serious damage during a fire that started in the attic. Frank Fonte was found unconscious around 5 p.m. Sunday by Yorktown Heights firefighters and was pronounced dead a short time later at his home at 1789 Baldwin Road.
