Two men have been arrested after scamming a Long Island man out of nearly $40,000 in just three days, authorities said.
On Saturday, June 10, two scammers were arrested for the dayslong scheme of a Mineola man, Nassau County Police said.
The incident started on Wednesday, June 7.
Ryad Moussi and Jonathan Caton, both 21-year-olds from Canada, targeted an 86-year-old Mineola man for a scam in which the victim believed his family was in legal trouble and needed money, police reported.

Mineola Man Driving Drunk With Child Onboard Crashes Pickup Tuck In Carle Place, Police Say
A Long Island man driving drunk with a child in the vehicle is facing a host of charges after an overnight crash, according to police.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 21 in Carle Place.
Matthew Ryan, age 42, of Mineola, was driving his 2014 Dodge Ram westbound on Westbury Avenue when he crossed over into eastbound lanes of traffic and struck a 2021 Dodge Ram, Nassau County Police said.
Ryan left the scene of the crash, but because of heavy damage to his tires, he came to a stop in front of 252 Westbury Ave., said police.

After Probation Meeting, Man Steals Delivery Driver's Car Outside LI Restaurant, Police Say
A man on probation and three juveniles are facing charges after allegedly stealing a delivery driver’s car outside a Long Island restaurant.
The theft occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, in Mineola, outside of Riko’s Pizza on Old Country Road, according to Nassau County Police.
Investigators said the delivery driver left his 2019 Toyota Camry unlocked with the keys inside.
At around the same time, 19-year-old Alix Dupre, of Elmont, was leaving a scheduled probation appointment near the Nassau County Supreme Court building, roughly a block away.
