More than $220,000 has been raised to support the family of a Long Island man who died in a head-on crash in the Hamptons over the weekend.
The night of Saturday, July 24, Farhan Zahid, age 32, of Bay Shore, while working for Uber, was driving a Toyota Prius east on Montauk Highway, near the intersection of Quogue Street East, when his vehicle was hit by a westbound Nissan Maxima driven by Justin Mendez, age 22, of Brookhaven. Both drivers were killed in the crash, along with three other passengers of the Toyota.

Three Nabbed For Speeding, Refusing To Stop For Officers On Long Island, Police Say
Three men who were allegedly driving vehicles at a high rate of speed on Long Island and refused to stop for police before crashing have been arrested.
The men were spotted traveling westbound on the Montauk Highway at a high rate of speed around 9:50 p.m., Sunday, June 6, by a Southampton Town Police police officer, said Lt. Susan Ralph.
The officer activated lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the three vehicles, but all three refused to stop, she said.

Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Car On Long Island Roadway
A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car on a busy Long Island roadway.
The incident happened Friday, Jan. 15, at approximately 4:25 p.m. in East Patchogue.
Zipporah Johnson, age 28, of Patchogue, was driving a 2004 Nissan westbound on Montauk Highway, near Scherger Avenue, when her vehicle struck Arturo Peralta, age 77, of East Patchogue, who was walking with his bicycle, Suffolk County Police said.
Peralta was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Johnson was not injured.

A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run that killed a mother on Long Island.
Mark A. Corrado Jr., 28, of West Babylon, was arrested by. East Hampton for leaving the scene of an incident that killed a 36-year-old mother who was pushing her kids in a stroller in Amagansett, around 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, said Captain Chris Anderson.
According to Anderson, Corrado was driving east on Montauk Highway near Bunker Hill Road in a 1997 Dodge pickup when he struck Yuris Murillo Cruz, who was with her 1-year-old and 4-year-old children.
