The fire allegedly started in the kitchen of the residence at 16205 Edwards Ferry Road in the early afternoon of Wednesday, July 27, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue. The bulk of the fire has since been extinguished, officials said, but the home was reportedly declared a total loss. The 12-year-old was able to escape the home uninjured. The flames began around 12:30 p.m. near the rear of the home on the 14200 block of Seneca Road, Thursday, July 21, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue. The driver of the vehicle indicated that there was a mechanical issue when the engine was started, causing smoke and flames to rise up from the gas combustion engine. No serious injuries have been reported in the incident.

Illegal Potomac River Swimmers Rescued After Near Drowning: Authorities Two swimmers clung to rocks in the Potomac River before being rescued by officials earlier this week, authorities say. The swimmers, who were a part of a group of young people, entered the water near Lambert beach, when a strong current swept them away and prevented them from swimming back to shore, says Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.  Swimming in the Potomac River is illegal and dangerous due to the strong currents and debris that lies beneath the surface of the deceptive water. Swimmers may be fined up to $200. Swift Water boats were able to retrieve both swimmers.
