Following Car Too Closely Gets Man Popped For DUI: Denville PD
A 21-year-old Morris Plains resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Denville, authorities recently announced.
At 1:03 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, officers pulled over a vehicle on Route 53 for following a vehicle too closely, Denville Police said.
The driver of the vehicle, Fabian Carvajal Patino, was determined to be driving while intoxicated, police said.
Patino was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence, following too closely, reckless driving and careless driving, police said.

A minor earthquake rattled parts of North Jersey Monday morning, July 21.
The magnitude 1.6 quake struck at 5:40 a.m. local time about 3 kilometers west of Morris Plains, NJ, the USGS said. The tremor occurred at a shallow depth of 5 kilometers (roughly 3 miles), and residents across several towns reported feeling light shaking.
The most notable responses came from Morristown, Randolph, Mendham, and Denville, where residents logged "weak" to "light" shaking levels, rated MMI III and IV, on the USGS's "Did You Feel It?" map. A total of 27 citizen reports were submitted.

A Morris County man admitted to threatening to kill a political commentator in an online video and group message, federal officials said.
Haim Braverman, 47, of Morris Plains, pleaded guilty in Newark federal court to transmitting threats in interstate commerce, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced Tuesday, May 6. He entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Evelyn Padin. Sentencing is set for Sept. 15, 2025.

Noah Benjamin Koenig, of Edison, died suddenly on Friday, June 7, according to an obituary published by Dangler Funeral Home. He was 20 years old.
Noah graduated from John P. Stevens High School in Edison in 2022, and joined the Cub Scouts in the first grade, his obituary said. He continued his journey with Boy Scouts where he earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout.

Stephen Gallagher, who served as police chief in Hanover Township, died recently at the age of 66, according to his obituary.
Born in Montclair, Gallagher spent most of his life in Morris Plains and had recently moved to Waretown, his obituary reads. After earning his degree from the College of St. Elizabeth, Gallagher became Chief of Police for the Township of Hanover, retiring in 2016 after 34 years serving the township, according to his obituary.
