Serious Crash Causes Lengthy Delays On PIP
This story has been updated. A serious motor-vehicle crash caused delays of a half-hour or more on a stretch of the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Rockland on Saturday. The crash, reported shortly before noon, occurred southbound at Exit 11 (New Hempstead Road) with stopped traffic at the scene and stop-and-go delays to Exit 13 (Route 202). Farther south, there was stop-and-go traffic with delays of 20 minutes on northbound I-87 after a crash at Exit 12 (Route 303), with delays to Exit 9 (Route 9). Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Serious I-84 Crash In Fishkill Prompts Police Warning To Motorists
Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a motor-vehicle crash late Sunday afternoon on I-84 in Dutchess County that prompted a warning to motorists by state police. There were no serious injuries in the crash in East Fishkill, police said. "Please drive carefully, and if you miss your exit, do not back up," police said. "Get off at the next exit, and find the most appropriate route to your destination." Troopers were assisted by the East Fishkill Fire Department and Mobile Life Support Services.

23 Charged With DWI In Hudson Valley Checkpoints
New York State Police were “out in force” during the holiday season as they conducted a STOP-DWI crackdown enforcement effort, looking to cut down on the number of impaired drivers in the Hudson Valley. Among those busted for DWI include: Dec. 28: Poughkeepsie resident Elvis Taylor, 26, for DWI in Wappinger; Somers resident Charles Heitner, 34, for DWI following a crash in Cortlandt that damaged property.
