The incident took place around 9:30 p.m., Monday, June 7, when the man was struck by a train at the Amityville station, said MTA officials. The man was removed to the hospital alive with leg injuries after being struck. Some 115 commuters on the train, the 9:12 p.m. out of Babylon to Penn Station, were safely moved to another train, while the track was de-energized to remove the injured man.
