With 15,000-Plus Homes Without Power, Some Schools To Excuse Online Absences
Some 15,000 households are without power this morning following a high-wind storm Wednesday, Oct. 7, and it’s affecting students in distance learning.
In light of the power outages, some school districts have said they will excuse distance learning absences,
“Absences for students unable to log in will be excused today,” the Westfield School District sent in a message to parents around 6:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 8.

National Grid: Power To Return To All Western Mass Customers By Saturday, Aug. 8
About half of National Grid’s customers in the eastern portion of Western Massachusetts may be without electricity until the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 8.
As of Thursday, Aug. 6, 14,223 Hampden County National Grid customers were without power in the wake of the Tuesday Tropical Storm Isaias.

East Longmeadow: 3,129
Hampden: 976
Monson: 2,096
Palmer: 1,839
Wilbraham: 3,000.
New Power Outage Update: Nearly 100 Percent Restored On Long Island
Nearly all customers should have power back as of noon Wednesday, July 3 after an army of tree trimmers and repair crews descended on the island following a series of weekend storms that left more than 95,000 homes and businesses without power.
In fact, there was so much damage, especially in Suffolk County, that by the end of the storm restoration, crews removed a total of 850 trees associated with the storm on Sunday, June 30, PSEG Long Island officials.
