Person Struck, Killed By Metro-North Train In Fairfield County
This story has been updated. An unidentified person was struck and killed by a Metro-North New Haven Line train near the downtown Stamford station early Friday evening. The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. The train had departed from Grand Central Station just before 6 p.m. Delays of a half-hour or more following the incident last for several hours. Bridgeport Train Collision Delays New Haven Line
This story has been updated. A collision between two trains in Bridgeport has delayed train service up to 10 to 15 minutes on the New Haven line. The crash, which occurred around 1:42 Thursday, took place at 525 Water St., between a work locomotive and a passenger train that was out of service when one ran into the back of the other at a very low speed, said MTA officials. According to officials, no passengers were aboard either train and the department is investigating a report of one minor injury to an employee. This is a developing story. ID Released For Woman Hit, Killed By Metro-North New Haven Line Train
A woman who was killed by a Metro-North New Haven Line train Thursday night has been identified, according to the MTA. Tricia Plotnik, 35, of Milford, was hit around 9 p.m. by a Grand Central-bound train just east of the Milford train station, said MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan. The incident caused delays, but MTA officials don't believe any criminal activity was involved. MTA police are investigating the incident, Donovan said.

Metro-North Experiences Hours-Long Delays

Metro-North experienced delays into and out of Grand Central Terminal due to a speed restriction resulting from track work starting at the tail end of the morning commute and continuing into the early afternoon. In a statement issued just before 8:30 a.m., Metro-North advised customers on the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines to listen for announcements at local stations. Delays were as long as 20 minutes at times.

First Woman Named Metro-North President
Catherine Rinaldi has been named the first female president of Metro-North Railroad. Rinaldi, has served as acting president of Metro-North since July 2017, and previously was Metro-North’s executive vice president, beginning in 2015. On Wednesday, Feb. 21 she was officially named president. She replaces Joe Giulietti who resigned last July after three years leading the railroad. Metro-North will provide additional trains on the Hudson and New Haven lines on Saturday, Jan. 20 to accommodate people traveling to and from the Women's March being held in New York City.
