A team of Port Authority police officers revived a Newark Airport traveler who coded six times after suffering a heart attack and falling down an escalator on Tuesday. The 51-year-old Michigan man fell backwards down the escalator and hit his head, Port Authority spokeswoman Lenis Rodrigues said. A family standing behind him called for help, thinking the victim had fainted, Rodrigues said. He wasn’t breathing, so Officers Nick Brucato and Phil Campo began CPR. They were joined by PAPD Officers Joe Francavilla, Matthew Rosati, Steve Magnavita, Michael Raccioppi and Michael Tilatitsky, who…

Halloween Scene: Traveler Tries Bringing Jumbo Kitchen Knife Aboard LaGuardia Flight
Other than to carve a Halloween pumpkin, a TSA spokeswoman asked why anyone would try to bring a jumbo kitchen knife aboard a flight after agents intercepted one at a LaGuardia Airport checkpoint. Agents nabbed a traveler with the "crazy-big" knife -- with an eight-inch blade -- at the Queens airport on Thursday, TSA Transportation Security Administration Public Affairs spokesperson Lisa Farbstein said. This comes after they found a "razor-sharp" throwing star among a traveler's carry-on items as he passed through the checkpoint. "Sorry, but martial arts weapons, by definition, are weapon…

TSA: Passenger Tries Bringing Large Sword Onto Plane At Newark, Other Weapons Seized Nationwide
A man who tried carrying a large sword onto a plane at Newark Airport was nabbed by TSA agents. He apparently thought he could carry it past a security checkpoint because of its value, TSA Transportation Security Administration Public Affairs spokesperson Lisa Farbstein said Monday. “Doesn't matter to TSA how much the weapon is worth,” Farbstein said. “No weapons should be brought in the cabin of a plane.” It was one of several weapons that TSA agents found people illegally carrying through checkpoints at airports throughout the country the past few days. A passenger at Seattle-Tacoma Int…

Authorities: Airport Uber Imposter Drags Palisades Park Woman, 65, With Car
A phony Uber driver dragged a 65-year-old Palisades Park woman with his car, injuring her, after driving her home from Newark Airport, said authorities who arrested him Friday. The victim had just gotten off a plane on Aug. 7 when Wilson Gomez approached her at the airport carrying an Uber sign, police said. She accepted the offer even though she hadn't booked a ride with him through the popular ridesharing app, Capt. Anthony Muccio said. After negotiating a fare on the way to Palisades Park, the woman told police, she began to suspect something was up. So she called her son on her cellph…

A plane blew a tire and skidded off a runway at Newark Airport Saturday afternoon, delaying arrivals and departures while authorities investigated. "The NTSB has instructed that the aircraft in the earlier incident not be moved until investigators arrive," the airport said. A staircase was used to evacuate the plane. No injuries were immediately reported. The airport advised travelers to c…

High-Speed Maglev Monorail Being Considered For American Dream
A magnetic monorail is being considered to spare drivers the extra time in traffic getting to and from the American Dream in East Rutherford. The high-speed Maglev monorail -- which floats on magnets -- would be an alternative to the extension of the Meadowlands rail line, currently operating out of MetLife Stadium, Gov. Phil Murphy said. The biggest risk with the new train would be be completing it in time for the opening of the mall, Murphy said. "We’re living through trying to figure out how to build a rail spur to largest mall in America," said Murphy said during a University of Chicag…
