Northeast cities have widely different Fourth of July celebrations, with the region having some of the nation's best and worst, according to a new study.
WalletHub released its 2025 list of Best & Worst Places for Fourth of July Celebrations on Wednesday, June 25. The study scored 100 cities on everything from food and hotel prices to fireworks shows, walkability, and weather.

A Newark woman is facing nearly 30 charges for allegedly stealing more than $600,000 through a string of frauds across New Jersey, authorities said.
Joyce Kirkland, 59, was arrested at her home on the morning of Wednesday, June 25, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel said Friday. Kirkland was charged with 29 counts, including theft, money laundering, forgery, and criminal impersonation.

A late-night traffic stop in Clifton uncovered a stolen gun, crack cocaine, heroin, and more, authorities said.
Officer Benjamin Bressel was patrolling near Highland Avenue and Van Winkle Avenue when he spotted a 2016 two-door BMW committing several traffic violations around 3:09 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, according to Clifton Police Lt. Robert Anderson.

A Paterson man was killed and four others were injured in a mass shooting in Newark late Monday, June 23, authorities said.
At 11:40 p.m., Newark police responded to 367 6th Ave. and found five individuals struck by gunfire, a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.
Brandyn Waters, 18, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. Four men, 26, 24, and two 19-year-olds were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, authorities said.

The house at 28 Reynolds Pl. has been listed for $1. And while you probably can't own the home for a simple George Washington, it's created quite a stir on the real estate market.
Brendan DaSilva, who listed the 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home, said he has seen homes suffer from being overpriced, but never saw a listing suffer from being undervalued.
