A person was struck by a New Jersey Transit train in Monmouth County, officials said. North Jersey Coast Line rail service was suspended in both directions between Red Bank and Long Branch, NJ Transit said on Twitter at 2:22 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8. A pedestrian was hit by a train near Red Bank. The condition of the person wasn't known as of press time. Major delays were reported to NJ Transit's Main-Bergen Line after a person was struck and killed by a train Tuesday morning, Oct. 1. An agency spokesperson said that the male pedestrian was struck by Bergen County Line train 1154 near the Garfield Station, near Outwater Lane, just before 7:50 a.m. The train had left Suffern, N.Y. at 7:09 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 8:14 a.m. There were no reported injuries to the 600 customers or crew on board. NJ Transit Driver Assaulted By 7 Juveniles In Paterson
A NJ Transit bus driver was hospitalized following an assault carried out by a group of juveniles in Paterson on Wednesday, Sept. 18, authorities said. An NJ Transit spokesperson said the attack happened just after 4:30 p.m. on the 171 line at the Broadway Bus Terminal. The operator was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident remains under investigation by NJT police.

An NJ Transit traveling from Hoboken to Lake Hopatcong had to be evacuated in Morris County due to a smoke condition on the evening of Monday, Sept. 16, authorities said. Officials ID Man, 39, Killed By Train In Red Bank
Officials have identified the man struck and killed by an NJ Transit train on Saturday, Sept. 13 in Monmouth County. Anthony DePalma, 39, of Atlantic Highlands, was struck at the Monmouth Street crossing in Red Bank and involved North Jersey Coast Line train 7240, according to an NJ Transit spokesperson. A person trespassing on the train tracks in Newark was electrocuted on the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 12, authorities said. A man spat on a woman and assaulted her on an NJ Transit Bus in Newark on Tuesday, Aug. 27, authorities said. A man was shot and killed at the New Jersey Transit station in Long Branch, authorities said. A bus driver and a passenger were both arrested on Friday, Aug. 16 after they got into a physical altercation in Newark, authorities said. At noon, police responded to a report of a fight aboard a NJ Transit bus at Broad Street and Lafayette Street, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. A pedestrian was truck by a train in Harrison on the early morning of Sunday, Aug. 18, authorities said. At 12:50 a.m., Morris and Essex train 6907 struck the pedestrian just east of Broad Street Station, NJ Transit said.
